Luke McFarlane of the 100 Mile House Wranglers is this week’s Young Guns selection after he scored four goals in three games.
The Calgary, Alta., product scored his first junior hockey goal on Sept. 27 against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats. He registered his second goal against the Fernie Ghostriders on Sept. 28 – a short-handed winner, then had his first two-goal night on Sept. 29 against the Kimberley Dynamiters.
Wranglers head coach-general manager Levi Stuart said McFarlane showed a willingness to work and go to the right areas.
“He is starting to get open and get himself in some good scoring opportunities to receive passes and then he’s worked hard on his shot,” said Stuart. “He’s had a couple of opportunities to showcase that. It just comes down to pure want and will with his work ethic and willingness to do things the right way and his desire to beat guys in one-on-one battles is bare none.”
Stuart added he was happy to see McFarlane get rewarded for his continued progress.
